PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina High School Rebels traveled to River Bluff High on March 4 for their second game of the Carolina Ale Baseball Tournament and were held to two runs and six hits.

The two runs were scored in the top of the sixth inning. Duncan Crotwell led off with a single to right field and Justin Hawkins hit a homerun over the right field fence scoring two runs. River Bluff scored one run in both the second and third innings and four in the fifth. Mid-Carolina lost to River Bluff 6-2.

Mid-Carolina played Ridge View High School at home March 5. The bats came alive for MC, producing 15 hits and nine runs to Ridge View’s 10 hits and six runs. Danton Hyman was the winning pitcher and helped the run production with a 3-for-3 night at the plate.

The Rebels got off to a quick start scoring four runs in the first inning. Hyman led off with a walk and two stolen bases.

Hawkins scored Hyman on a single and Ryan Stoudemire moved Hawkins to third on a single. Josh Haney scored Hawkins on a fielder’s choice. Mack Flemon advanced Haney to third on a single and Shawn Sexton scored Haney and Flemon on a single.

Hyman started the action in the second inning with a single to left field. Crotwell reached on a hard ground ball single and Hawkins scored Hyman on a ground out to short. Stoudemire scored Crotwell with a single. Haney walked and Stoudemire scored on a single by Flemon. Haney scored on a throwing error.

The Rebels scored one run in the fifth inning. Hyman reached second on a double and scored on a single to center field by Crotwell, leaving Mid-Carolina victorious with a final score of 9-6.
