EDMOND, Okla. — The Newberry Wolves have dropped one spot to No. 3 in the latest Division II national rankings as released by the coaches association on Wednesday. Three Wolves are in the top eight nationally in their weight class.


After a perfect 4-0 day at the Super Region II Duals last weekend, the Wolves have a 15-1 duals record entering Thursday’s dual against King.


In the individual rankings, Matt Wade at heavyweight is Newberry’s top ranked wrestler, coming in at No. 2 nationally. Wade went 2-0 at the Super Region II Duals with a pin and a decision.


B.J. Young moved up two spots in the individual rankings at 141 lbs. to third nationally. He had a 3-0 day at the Super Region II Duals, with all three wins coming by technical fall, moving him to the top of the national standings in that category.


Jeff Vesta held steady in the 125 lbs. class at No. 6 nationally.
