Middle school lady Rebels defeat Saluda, boys drop game
PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina Middle boys basketball team lost to Saluda Middle Thursday evening, 50-40.
After being down 12-4 the first quarter the Mid-Carolina Middle boys’ came charging back to take a 20-18 lead at half-time with the help of four 3 pointers in the first half from Jeb Fulmer, Cade Ruff, Jack Edwards and Kaleb Boland.
In the third quarter Saluda took the lead 28-27 and it was a close game until the final minute where the Rebels attempted to foul Saluda and sent them to the line to stop the clock and give our team the opportunity to score some quick points. Saluda made 14 out of 24 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the game.
Mid-Carolina only went to the free throw line 15 times the entire game and shot 10 of 15 from the line. Saluda shot 37 free throws in tonight’s middle school game.
The top scorers for the night for the boys were: Jeb Fulmer, 11 points, 1 steal, 1 assist, 1 block, 4 turnovers; Cade Ruff, 16 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist, 1 turnover.
Other statistics are as follows: Seth Schumpert, 1 rebound; Bryce Medlock, 1 assist, 1 turnover; Rod Byrd, 7 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist, 2 blocks; Collins Remion, 1 rebound, 1 turnover; Jackson Lominic, 2 assists; Jack Edwards, 3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 turnover; Kaleb Boland, 3 points, 3 turnovers; Myreck Wise, 1 block, 1 rebound.
The girls defeated Saluda, 21-12. The top scorers for the night were: Nia Hall, 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 turnover; Chazity Counts, 5 points, 2 steals; Mary Helen Alford, 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 turnover; Kadianne Knight, 2 points, 1 rebound and Cassi Ruff, 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist.
Other statistics are as follows: Ashlyn Stanley, 1 steal; Jessica Morris, 1 steal; Merical Cromer, 2 steals; Jordan Cary, 1 rebound; Taylor Swygert, 2 turnovers; Amanda Hollowell, 1 rebound and Brytrisha Mathis, 2 rebounds, 1 steal.
