PROSPERITY — Newberry Middle defeated Mid-Carolina Middle in girls and boys basketball on Monday night. The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Rebels, 36-18, while the Newberry Middle boys beat MC boys, 34-15.


For the Newberry girls, Rayanna Davis led the team with 20 points. Lindsay Ruff and C. Davis each scored four points while Zacharia Epps, Myles Dean, K. Caldwell and M. Moon each scored two points.


For the Lady Rebels, Nia Hall led the team with 6 points, 1 steal, 1 assist, 2 turnovers and 2 blocks while Chazity Counts scored four points, a rebound and two turnovers. Jessica Morris scored three points and had a turnover.


Merical Cromer had 4 rebounds and 1 turnover while Camryn Long scored 2 points and had 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 turnover, 1 block. Mary Helen Alford had 1 rebound and Cassi Ruff had 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 6 turnovers and 1 block.


Taylor Swygert had 1 rebound and 1 turnover and Katie Coker had 1 rebound, Amanda Hollowell scored 1 point and Brytrisha Mathis scored 2 points.


For the boys team, Newberry Middle’s Ruff scored 11 points while Abrams scored six points. Moore and York each scored four points while Epps scored three points. Trig Goodman, T. Rogers and May scored two points each.


For Mid-Carolina, Jackson Lominick scored four points and had three rebounds and one turnover while Kaleb Boland scored four points and had 1 assist, 3 turnovers and 1 block.


Jeb Fulmer scored 3 points and had 1 steal, 1 assist, 1 turnover and 1 rebound. Rod Byrd scored 2 points and had 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Seth Schumpert had 2 steals, 1 rebound and 2 turnovers while Aynsly Bowers had 1 assist, 3 turnovers and 1 rebound.


Myreck Wise scored 2 points, 1 steal and had 1 rebound. Shaq Nelson had 1 turnover. Collins Remion had 1 rebound and 3 turnovers. Jack Edwards had 1 block and 1 rebound.
