PROSPERITY —Mid-Carolina Middle School’s girls basketball team defeated Wright Middle School by a score of 28-16 on Thursday while the boys lost 44-17.


For the girls, Chazity Counts led the game with 12 points. She also had 3 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Nia Hall had 9 points, 4 steals, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.


Brytrisha Mathis had 3 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Jessica Morris had 2 assists, Merical Cromer had 3 rebounds, 1 blocked shot and 1 assist and Jordan Cary had 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.


Camryn Long had 4 rebounds, Mary Helen Alford had 3 rebounds and 1 steal, Cassi Ruff had 4 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and Taylor Swygert had 2 assists, 1 assist and 1 rebound. Kadianne Knight had 2 rebounds.


For the boys, Jackson Lominick scored 3 points, and had 1 turnover and 1 rebound, Jack Edwards scored 3 points, 2 steals and had 6 turnovers, Bryce Medlock scored 3 points and had 2 turnovers.


Jeb Fulmer scored 3 points and had 1 steal and 1 assist, Seth Schumpert had 1 steal, 1 assist and 2 turnovers. Jalen Bates Caldwell had 2 steals, 2 rebounds and 1 turnover, Aynsly Bowers had 1 assist, 4 turnovers and 1 rebound. Shaq Nelson had 1 steal and 1 turnover. Rod Byrd scored 2 points and had 1 steal, 3 turnovers and 1 rebound. Collins Remion scored 2 points and had 1 steal. Kaleb Boland scored 1 point and had 2 steals and 1 rebound. Myreck Wise had 1 steal and 1 rebound.


Cade Ruff had 1 assist and 2 rebounds before he was injured two minutes into the game and taken out.
