PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina High School varsity Lady Rebels never trailed in either of their games last week as they picked up their third and fourth wins of the season, both over 3-A schools.
Going on an 18-0 first quarter run Tuesday in their home gym, Mid-Carolina was never threatened in their 57-29 victory over Gilbert High School.
Jalesa Ruff’s 15 points through the first three quarters of play fell just two points shy of tying what the entire Lady Indians’ team scored — 17 — as a whole in the same time frame.
Ruff had a game-high 15 points while April Cumalander had 12. Julie Kinard also ended the evening in double digits, finishing with 10 points. Alix Green saw nine points go in while Shanice Boyd scored six second half points.
Courtney Cromer and Bri Stewart each scored two points while Alexis Fowler contributed a lone free-throw in the second quarter.
It only took the Lady Rebels 2:22 on Thursday at Swansea to already have a 13-0 advantage over the Lady Tigers. A running second half clock allowed them to coast to a 72-32 win. Mid-Carolina had a 52-14 advantage at the break.
Ruff scored 20 first half points as she finished the evening with 22 points. Cumalander scored 16 points while Green scored 13. Kinard fell just shy of finishing in double digits as the freshman scored nine points. Fowler and Bri Stewart each ended the night with six points apiece.
