Whitmire defeats Mid-Carolina at tri-match

WHITMIRE — Whitmire wrestling team defeated Mid-Carolina 47-27 in its first tri-match at Landrum this Wednesday.
Whitmire sophomore Bradley Burleson in the 106 weight class lost by pinfall to C. Hernandez in the third 113 weight class Freshman Alex Swain from WCS won by technical fall over Smith. Whitmire sophomore Hunter Compton, in the 120 weight class, won by forfeit. Whitmire sophomore Tripp Alexander in the 126 weight class won by pinfall over Gambrell in the first.
Whitmire sophomore Max Stewart in the 132 weight class lost by pinfall to N. Hernandez in the first. Sophomore West Jenkins in the 138 weight class won by forfeit. Junior Kenny Page in the 145 weight class won by pinfall over A. Shealy in the first.
Whitmire senior Matt Swain in the 152 class lost by decision to J. Kianey. 160 weight class Born Ruff-Fields, freshman at WCS, won by forfeit. 170 weight class Austin Jenkins, sophomore at WCS, won by pinfall over Danielson in the third.
182 weight class forfeit to Velaquez. 195 weight class forfeit to Abbney. 220 weight class scratch. Whitmire senior T.C. McMurtury in the 285 weight class won by pinfall over R. Long in the first.
In the past the Whitmire wrestling team has tied up with Mid-Carolina, having lost to tie breaker rules. Head Coach Jarrod King said that this was an important win to start off their season.
