NINETY SIX — Mid-Carolina Middle School took on Edgewood Middle on Monday and both the boys and girls basketball teams were defeated. On the ladies team, Edgewood beat Mid-Carolina 25-15 while on the boys team, Edgewood beat Mid-Carolina, 48-41.
For the lady Rebels, Chazity Counts scored 4 points, had 2 rebounds and 3 steals. Jessica Morris had a rebound and a steal.
Merical Cromer had a rebound while Camryn Long has two points and three rebounds. Mary Helen Alford had two rebounds and one assist. Cassi Ruff scored 2 points, had 5 rebounds and made 4 steals.
Taylor Swygert had a rebound, Nia Hall scored 7 points and had 3 rebounds while Brytrisha Mathis had a rebound and a steal.
On the boys team for MC, eighth grader Cade Ruff broke two Mid-Carolina Middle basketball records in the game against Edgefield.
Ruff scored 31 points and broke Mac Lake and Zachary Parker’s mark of 26 points. He also tied the steals records with 10 steals. He tied with Antwan Penny’s 10 steals from the 2005-06 season. Ruff also had 4 assists and 9 rebounds.
Jalen Bates Caldwell scored 2 points, had 1 steal, 2 assists and had 6 rebounds. Seth Schumpert had 1 assist, Jeb Fulmer had 2 points and 1 rebound. Rod Byrd scored 6 points and had 5 rebounds.
Bryce Medlock had 1 steal, Aynsly Bowers had 1 rebound, Shaq Nelson had 1 steal, Jackson Lominick had 1 rebound, Jack Edwards had 1 steal and 1 rebound and Myreck Wise had 1 rebound.
The next game is Dec. 12 at Saluda Middle. The girls game starts at 5:30 p.m. with the boys following.
