Lady Wolves ranked fourth in NSCAA
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the second straight week, the Newberry women’s soccer team has earned regional recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with a No. 4 ranking in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division II Southeast Region.
Newberry (3-0) is the highest ranked team from the South Atlantic Conference after knocking off conference foe Mars Hill on Saturday. The Wolves have yet to surrender a goal on the season and are the only team left in the SAC to boast such a statistic.
Against Mars Hill, sophomore Rebecca Darley notched her third clean sheet of the season as she recorded four saves between the posts. On the attack the Wolves saw goals from juniors Breanna Naranjo and Sarah Sager in their victory over the Lions.
Newberry is one of four SAC teams ranked by the NSCAA as Lenoir-Rhyne sits at No. 5, Queens at No. 7 and Wingate at No. 10.
The Wolves next travel to Belmont Abbey to take on a Crusaders side ranked No. 6 in the region by the NSCAA.
