PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina Varsity Volleyball Team competed in the Pelion Invitational on Aug. 24. The Lady Rebels finished second out of 12 teams, losing to Dutch Fork in the championship game.


Teams that participated in the tournament were Brookland-Cayce, Batesburg-Leesville, Dutch Fork, A.C. Flora, Cross, Pelion, Andrew Jackson, Darlington, Ridge View, Swansea, Greenville Tech, and Mid-Carolina.


During pool play the Rebels tied with Swansea 1-1 in the first game, defeated Ridge View 2-0 in the second game, and defeated Greenville Tech Charter School 2-0 in the third game.


During the single elimination bracket, the Rebels defeated Batesburg-Leesville 2-0 and defeated A.C. Flora 2-1 in the semifinals. The Rebels lost the championship game to Dutch Fork 25-23 and 27-25.


The Lady Rebels will open their season with a tri-match against Dutch Fork and Irmo at Mid-Carolina beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 3.


Members of the varsity volleyball team include seniors Alexis Fowler, Alix Green, Ashley Lake, Marie Peters, Laken Riddle, Shelby Woods, juniors Megan Duncan, Taylor Livingston, Elizabeth Richardson, Sophomore Tori Caldwell, and freshman Julie Kinard. The Lady Rebels are coached by Jessica Seibert.
