Hello everybody, hope you all had a nice Fourth of July celebration. I have news of another veterans oriented celebration coming up after we do our birthday wishes. Gottrocks the birthday fairy has been busy with his flights and adding much needed coolant to his wings. Whew. We won’t even talk about our sweltering weather this week.

Birthdays

Happy Birthday to Jolane Maness, Larry W. Williams, Chrystal Brock, Joan Wilburn, Lyn M. Gilliam, Ian Elsmore, Paula Willis, Beth R. Bell, Tammy K. Wapshott, Brandon Sturkey, Lana S. Cunningham, David Eubanks, Toni Conner, Carol D. Marse, Lisa Sligh, Tonnie Epps, Larry W. Williams, Dutch Jenkins, Lori W. Pruitt, Deborah Nelson, Scott Coleman, Tony Crosby Jr. and David Hipp.

Anniversaries

There are lots of anniversary wishes this week to celebrate: Audrey and Jack Gilliam (40 years), Angie B. and Randy Gilliam (83 years), Toni and Frank Suber, Janet and Bruce McMurtury, Mary Alice and L.C. Pugh, Marilyn and Donnie Bundrick, Eiliene (Virginia) and Micheal Dillard, DeeDee and Roy Doolittle, Elaine and Walter Wilkerson. A special memory wish for my parents: Dorothy “Dot” and T.E. “Red” Fowler Jr. who would have celebrated 63 years July 3.

News and events

The next big thing in The Whitty is the Veterans Celebration on July 19 in the Main Street and Heritage Park area. The event has a classic car show, music, arts and crafts, local cooked barbecue and guest speakers. This is a family oriented event, so bring a chair or blanket to be comfortable at the park stage area. This event is sponsored by the Whitmire Economic Development board members.
