The Newberry County Humane Society would like to remind area residents and pet owners to “protect” their precious pets from all fireworks and loud noises.

Cats, especially, do not like loud noises, so they need to be in a safe, secure and quiet place with their favorite blanket or box or bed, and food and water. Dogs also do not like, and are afraid of loud noises and if able, will run! Make sure your furry friend is in a quiet place, secure and away from any fireworks or loud disturbances. Make sure your dog has full identification on their tag: your name and phone number and hopefully, they are microchipped (just in case). Enjoy the 4th of July and let your pets enjoy it too, safely.
