I was born in Newberry in 1965. I took a Grey Hound bus to Riverside, Calif., at the age of 23. It was a decision I made based on both spiritual and circumstantial life conditions at the time.
I have been estranged from all family members, although I did maintain contact with my mother who lived in North Carolina. She passed away approximately 17 years ago. I have lived here since.
My wife and I plan a vacation trip to North Carolina this July. We were thinking about renting a rental car once there and driving into Newberry, after all these years.
If I have any living relatives still there, I wanted to reach out to them upon my arrival, provided any are open to the idea. I have a half brother, Timothy Allen Moore, whom I have not seen nor spoken with in nearly two decades.
I would like to reach out to him as well. Family members may contact me at email@example.com.
This is my story, so I do not know if posting a piece in your paper would aid in my quest or not. Either way, it was a thrill reading the Newberry Observer for the first time in many years.
