Hello everyone. Local news on the way after we do our birthday wishes from Gottrocks the birthday fairy.

Happy birthday wishes to Marty McMurtury, Bradly Boyter, Tina Steen, Ansleigh McDaniel, Dan Stroud, Ben Nelson, Martha Roller, Beth G. Holland, Wendy Farmer, Tee Suber, Don Tesenair, Maria Dickerson, Kem King, Joyce Hunnicut, Lisa Whitlock, Peggy Price, Chris Prince and Gail M.Vanlue.

Someone told me that Gail celebrated a special birthday with family and friends at the Community Center this past Saturday. The surprise of the night was a special appearance by Gail’s classmate and longtime friend Jackson “Jackie” Wix, who drove down from Rockingham, N.C. Gail’s daughter Sherry, arranged this secret surprise.

Happy anniversary wishes to Lou and Edgar Baker, and we send our speedy recovery wishes and prayers to Edgar. Happy anniversary to former Whitmire residents Brenda and Steve Mays, Cathy and Robert Broome, and Emmy and Jimmy Moss.

On a sad note, we send our sympathies and best wishes to the families of former Whitmire resident and pastor at Bethesda Baptist Church, Rev. Austin Bennett.

Well readers, as school starts this week, you can look forward to seeing more WCS related news and fall happenings. Football season is around the corner, and I still can’t get used to football in hot August weather, can you? It’s still baseball season to me. With that, I’ll add “Go Braves” and say so long. In the meantime, feel free to send your news and photos to news2cassie@yahoo.com.
