Hello everyone, local news on the way after we do the birthday wishes sent in from Gottrocks the birthday fairy.

News and Events

St. Timothy Lutheran Church will host its annual homecoming services the weekend of June 1 at the 11 a.m. service.

The Whitmire Economic Development Board’s I-26 to I-77 Yard Sale is the weekend thing to do on June 6 and June 7. The sale ranges from I-26 at the Whitmire/Clinton exit all the way through Whitmire on S.C. 72, through Carlisle, Chester on over to Richbourg near I-77 to the Charlotte exit.

This is a multi-county effort. Members of the Economic Board have stated that folks from Florida and Georgia have called about the sale and plan to visit Whitmire. The annual Party in the Pines Festival is June 12-14. This is a three-night festival held on Main Street. The event features various genres of music including gospel, R&B, soul, country, blues with The Mattie Phifer Band, and country rock with Cody Webb. There will be specially priced carnival rides for the kids, arts, crafts, food vendors and more. Contact the Whitmire Jaycees at whitmirejaycees@yahoo.com.

The annual Wolverine Golf Classic will be held June 14 at the Whitmire golf course. This annual tournament draws former Whitmire graduates and athletes to town. It is a fundraiser for the WHS Booster Club.

Contact Joey Dillard, Whitmire Recreation Coordinator, for information at 803-694-0198. Keep the office number handy, more golf action begins June 15. This is a free summer golf program for kids, teens and adults who want to learn to play golf. The members of the Whitmire Golf Association will be on hand to furnish clubs and assist. Well everybody, looks like the time has come for Garabund the deadline fairy to slam the laptop lid on my fingers. He can be quite intimidating with his wing dust smogging up my space.
