Upcoming community events include the Easter Lentin Services, sponsored by the Whitmire Ministerial Association held each Wednesday at various Whitmire Churches including Heritage Wesleyan on March 19, St.Timothy Lutheran on March 26,Whitmire Presbyterian on April 2 and Sims Chapel Baptist on April 9 at 11a.m. Lunch of soup and salad will be served.
TERA, the Tyger Enoree River Alliance, recently hosted a Knot Tying Class, and their upcoming spring events include an April 11 board meeting and a camping fishing and fellowship trip in May.
The Whitmire Jaycees announced their Easter Egg Hunt dates of April 13 at 3 p.m. at Heritage Park, on the grounds of the Whitmire Community Center and the make up date is April 18 on Good Friday at 3 p.m.

Congratulations to the Whitmire Jaycees on their recent recognition and awards from the State Chapter for their events: the Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Easter egg Hunt, and the Party in the Pines Festival.
The Whitmire Economic Development Board has several March and April events planned. This Saturday is the town clean up day at 9 a.m. Various areas of Whitmire will receive beautification, including the fountain at the library, parts of Broome and Satterwhite Street.
The Health Fitness Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 5. Various routes for different levels of fitness are planned. Former Whitmire resident, Haskell Walker will be leading the walk, along with running enthusiast Major/Pastor Todd Johnson.

Tourism and Blues music are the hot discussion around our communities like Winnsboro, Whitmire and Chester. The Economic Development Board members have partnered with Chester to host a giant yard sale, and host concerts within the three areas. Chester and Winnsboro are also part of the Old English Tourism District. The three towns are within 30 minutes driving between them and are in various areas of Sumter National Forest.
