Our relationship with God is not based upon our good deeds. It is not based upon our acts of kindness or belonging to a particular denomination. It is not based upon anything we achieve or earn.
Our relationship with God is based upon belief, our believing that Jesus Christ is God’s Son come in the flesh and that Jesus Christ is Lord.
We don’t have to wonder if we have done enough good. If we believe in what Jesus did on the cross to give everlasting life, then we accept God’s plan.
So many people hope they have done enough to please God. They hope they have prayed enough and read the Bible enough. They hope they are worthy of heaven.
That isn’t true hope. True hope is Thank you, God for saving me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for giving me your Holy Spirit to guide me and comfort me.
Not one of us is worthy of heaven, but what Jesus did on the cross made each of us worthy. It’s all about Jesus and not us. It’s what He did for us, not what we can do to earn a relationship with Christ.
Our relationship with God is personal.
