I recall when a “Big Apple” (NYC) resident, long ago, Wednesday on B’way was the traditional afternoon for senior attendance. Our Newberry, back country small town without the big city hassle, had for us January 29 an extraordinarily pleasant and warming Wednesday evening at the opera house with snow and 28 degrees outside.
Audrey Love Charitable Foundation brought to Newberry Opera House, at reasonable ticket prices, a world famous comic opera filled with choral singing, large orchestra live music, dancing and brilliant solo voices. Sound and action was all that was needed to take us away from the cold indifferent and often troubling outside. Additional consideration provided out of town attendees was provided those with the evening opera house tickets, overnight at the Hampton Inn, AKA The Opera House Hampton, right across the street, regularly $110.00 for $87.69.
The entertainment, hospitality and quality provided all attending Theatro Lirico D’Europa L‘Elisir D’Amore needed no translation from its direct content and presentation, touching all with a simple soul for music.
