Christmas is completely in our rear view mirrors, and I trust you had some personal time to reflect on just you. I believe every person should take some time to reflect on the previous year to ask yourself if there were opportunities where you would react differently.
What about how you treated your fellow man? Should you have made better business decisions? You get the point.
If we will survey our inner self and see where we should have acted or reacted differently, then we can look ahead at the New Year quickly approaching and make some decisions regarding what we are going to do in 2014.
Personally, I do not support the idea of writing down “New Year’s Resolutions,” simply because by the end of January, most are already broken and forgotten. This is just another way of admitting failures. Why not make your promises a personal thing and at the end of every day ask yourself, “Did I adhere to my promises?”
You will most certainly encounter challenges; however, by making daily reviews, you can actually improve. This simple plan will change you, thus making you a better person. Why not try something different this coming year?
Here at your Chamber, we are excited about 2014. We believe the residents of Newberry County will experience a year of tremendous growth and excitement. Many of our local industries are busy with growth plans, which normally means additional employees. Our latest industrial park is sparking interests, so from an economic development perspective, we are confident moving into the New Year.
We are also excited regarding the Career Center at the Newberry County High School. Our interests in the Workforce Development in both our high schools and technical schools are vitally important for our economic growth. Also, your involvement can assure success so why not make “getting involved” one of your promises for 2014?
Please call Liz, Michelle, or me at 276-4274 and let’s discuss how Chamber membership can help promote Newberry County and foster economic growth. You can make a difference.
Good luck, and we here at your Chamber wish you a prosperous New Year!
