SCFPA thanks community for support

The South Carolina Foster Parent Association would like to thank everyone who donated vehicles to its “On the Road Again” program. This program provides transportation for foster youth who are 18 but not yet 21, actively employed and pursuing a GED or post high school educational program. Without a vehicle, young people must rely on public transportation to get them to and from work or school. Unfortunately, public transportation is not available in many rural areas of SC.

Considering the numerous obstacles children aging out of foster care face as they work toward becoming productive citizens within their communities, sometimes the absence of reliable transportation is the one that prevents them from succeeding. However, with reliable transportation, many beat the odds to reach independence and success.

This program is made possible through the generous donations from the public. When you donate your vehicle to this program, your donation is tax deductible. Thanks again to all the selfless donors who have donated over the past few years; your donation has made a huge difference in the lives of these young adults. If you have questions about donating your vehicle please call me at 803-438-4587 and visit our website at www.scfpa.com.
