The Newberry Police Department reported the following incidents:

— Henry Abrams, 51, of 512 Crosson St. in Newberry, was charged with shoplifting and public intoxication on June 2. According to the incident report, officers responded to Dollar General because the manager said that a subject from a previous incident was back in the store. When searched, Abrams had two packs of hot dogs on him. Abrams smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.

— Dajohn Marquez Tykuwan Feaster, 20, of 1823 Charles St. in Newberry, was charged with simple possession of marijuana on June 5. According to the incident report, officers were in the area of Rodelsperger and Hiller streets in Newberry when they heard loud music coming from a shed behind a home on Rodelsperger Street. K-9 Percy was brought to the scene after officers smelled marijuana. Officers could see a cloud of smoke in the shed. All subjects were searched. Feaster had two small plastic bags of marijuana in his pants pockets. He was issued a ticket for simple possession of marijuana.

— Kenny Moore, 34, of 802 James St. in Newberry, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and loud and unseemly noise on June 6. According to the incident report, an officer was in a parking lot on Drayton Street when a vehicle passed him playing music loudly. While communications performed standard record checks, K-9 Percy alerted to the presence of narcotics at the driver’s door. Small green flakes that appeared to be marijuana were found in the center console. Officers also found a pill believed to be Clonazepam, a controlled substance. A plastic container containing burned paper that smelled of marijuana was also found.

— Essence Stoudemire, 23, of 201 Church St. in Prosperity was charged with driving under the influence on June 6. While on patrol on Johnstone Street, an officer noticed a vehicle having trouble holding the lane, veering gradually from right to left inside the lane and going over the white line on the right side of the roadway. Following a traffic stop, a strong odor of alcohol was coming from inside the vehicle. Stoudemire’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot. After several field sobriety tests, Stoudemire was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
