NEWBERRY — The Newberry Community Choir will present its annual Easter musical on Palm Sunday weekend, April 11-13 at Newberry Elementary School on Nance Street in Newberry.
Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8 p.m., with the Sunday afternoon performance at 3 p.m.
Focusing on Holy Week, the disciple John tells the story of Christ’s welcome into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and then explains the changing events that lead to His crucifixion. The music combines familiar, beloved hymns with contemporary Christian songs that will carry the listener from the agony of the cross to the joy of the resurrection and the promise of His second coming.
Selections include Blessed Redeemer, Where the Nails Were, Grace Flows Down, Above All, and We Shall Behold Him.
David Farmer again narrates this year’s musical that features 15 soloists and a choir of 65 people. As in years past, the performances are free to the public. Donation baskets are placed outside the auditorium to help cover production expenses.
Church groups are always welcome. For reserved seating for groups of 15 or more, call 803-276-7408 and leave a message.
