NEWBERRY — Summer Memorial Lutheran Church is holding an organ dedication recital March 2 at 3 p.m.
After the service of dedication by the Rev. Stephen Mims, a program of church music from throughout the liturgical church year will be presented on the organ. A reception follows in the church fellowship hall.
Performing organists are Dawn Frick Merrell of Salisbury, N.C. and Amy Frick, director of music and family ministries at Summer Memorial.
Dawn Merrill received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina and has served as organist and choir director at Lutheran Churches in North Carolina as well as conducted choir workshops across North Carolina. She has served as accompanist for the Salisbury Concert Choir and direced and served as accompanist for the Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society. Presently she maintains a studio in her home where she teaches piano and organ lessons.
Amy Frick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Newberry College where she studied under Professor Charles P. Pruitt and Professor Julie McLeod. Upon graduation she taughte in the Newberry County School District and became a certified Lay Professional for full-time church work with the Lutheran Church in America.
In addition to her duties at Summer Memorial Frick works as an instructional assistant at Newberry Elementary School.
