COLUMBIA — Midlands Orthopaedics in Columbia and Lowcountry Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Charleston announced today its merger to form Arcis Healthcare, LLC.
As healthcare delivery rapidly changes, these private medical groups are coming together to achieve several goals:
• To create a clinically integrated group of private practice providers;
• To leverage economies of scale and pooled resources making it possible to meet increasing regulatory demands, measure their own outcomes/patient satisfaction and compete at a high level in the evolving healthcare marketplace;
• To position themselves as providers of choice for patients, insurers and employers in the development of new networks, care delivery and payment models.
“We are thrilled to begin this new chapter of care delivery as a progressive, larger private practice focused on enhancing both patient experience and outcomes at all locations across the state,” explains AnnMargaret McCraw, CEO of Arcis Healthcare and Midlands Orthopaedics.
Both organizations have long histories in their respective communities and will continue to serve their local patients under the same practice names with the same physicians. Neither group has been purchased by another entity. They have simply merged together in a proactive effort to preserve and enhance patient care at all locations.
“Pooling our resources and adding the expertise of key staff members from each group to the larger Arcis infrastructure will enable us to operate more efficiently and serve patients better,” according to Carl Butler, Arcis Healthcare COO and CEO of Lowcountry Orthopaedics. ”
All services rendered will be billed through Arcis Healthcare, LLC. The statements patients receive will reflect the location where the service was provided; however, the explanation of benefits patients receive from their insurance carriers will likely reflect only Arcis Healthcare, LLC as the group provider.
Patients should contact their local practice locations with questions or concerns.
