NEWBERRY — Newberry High School will host a boys basketball tournament this weekend at Newberry College. The third annual event will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Games will be played daily at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.


Undefeated host Newberry High School will tip off in the 8 p.m. nightcap against Midland Valley on Friday. The 3:30 p.m. game will have Batesburg-Leesville vs. Clinton, the 5 p.m. game features White Knoll vs. Strom Thurmond, and the 6:30 p.m. game will have St. Joseph vs. Easley.


Winners and losers will compete against one another on Saturday as each team will play each day. The championship game will be the final game on Monday at 8 p.m. All games will be played at Eleazer Arena on the campus of Newberry College.


The Bulldogs of Newberry High have won the last two tournaments defeating Easley in 2011 and squeaking by Aiken High School for last year’s championship. Tickets to the event will be $5. Only the South Carolina Coaches passes will be accepted.
