NEWBERRY — The fourth-grade class at Newberry Academy thoroughly enjoyed a recent class project, “Nature Critters.”
Each student had to create a creature made entirely out of things found in nature. From dragonflies made out of leaves and berries to porcupines made from acorns and pine needles, the projects were a blast. The class not only learned about animals, but also about using resources found in nature right outside in their own backyards.
It was also an excellent opportunity for the class to practice speaking to a group by presenting their projects to the first through fourth grades at Newberry Academy.
“This is one of my favorite projects to assign because it brings out the creativity in each of her students and boosts their confidence in themselves,” said teacher Jaymi Wilbanks.
