Hello everyone and Happy Halloween from “The Whitty.” The town of Whitmire will host its Halloween events this Saturday evening. Oct. 26 is a day full of activities like the Captain’s Choice Golf Tourney – tee time is 9 a.m., and trick or treaters will hit the streets with their parents around 5 p.m.

The TERA fall concert at the Strand Theater in Heritage Park will also be at 5 p.m. This final concert in the series will feature the Mill Billy Band with Freddie Vanderford from Union. The opener will take the stage at 5 p.m. and Mill Billy Band takes the stage at 6 p.m. There will be free food and music, so bring a chair or blanket and make yourself at home.

There will be plenty of parking on Main Street, with stage area accessed through the Gilliam Street entrance, between the Post Office and Roches’ Pharmacy. Speaking of Main Street, there is plenty of parking for folks who want to Trunk Or Treat. Feel free to decorate the trunk of your car and hand out goodies.

It’s a well lit area and the Booster Club’s Halloween Carnival is across the street in the city gym. The gym entrance is between the Whitmire fire department buildings on Gilliam Street. The carnival offers games, music, a well as costume contest for adults and youth. This long running event is the Booster Clubs’ biggest fundraiser. All of these activities are within a circle of each other off Main Street.
