Newberry City Police crime report

The City of Newberry Police Department made the following arrests Sept. 18-21.
— Darrell Carlos Gallman, 25, of 1445 S.C. 395, Newberry, was arrested Sept. 18 and charged with shoplifting. According to the incident report, surveillance video shows Gallman concealing a set of hair clippers before leaving the store.
— Anthony Wayne McCullough, 39, was arrested Sept. 18 and charged with violating a restraining order. According to the incident report, the complainant called the police because McCullough was standing in his front yard. The restraining order is active until July 12, 2014.
— Roosevelt Timothy Wilson, 63, of 2604 Myrtle St. #21, Newberry, was arrested Sept. 19 and charged with simple assault. According to the incident report, a woman came to the police department and reported she was assaulted by her common law spouse. The assault escalated from a previous argument. The woman had a fresh injury around her neck and left arm.
— John Major Howell, 29, of 2540 Fair Ave., Newberry, was arrested Sept. 19 and charged with criminal domestic violence. According to the incident report, officers found a woman injured in several places when they responded to a report of an assault. Howell told police he and the woman had gotten into a verbal argument and she had attacked him. The report stated Howell’s story did not match up to the physical evidence.
— Melissa Darlene Saverance, 31, of 642 Morgan St., Newberry, was arrested Sept. 19 and charged with disorderly conduct. According to the incident report, officers responded to 1211 Main St. in reference to a disturbance. The officer was told Saverance was trying to gain entry to the business through the rear door, stating she was attempting to talk to a friend of hers who worked at the business. The report states Saverance was screaming and beating the front door with her hands.
— Almeter Davis, 59, of 227 Crosson St., Newberry, was arrested Sept. 21 and charged with drug/narcotic violations, drunkenness and resisting arrest. According to the incident report, Davis was spotted staggering on Crosson Street headed toward Vincent Street. Davis’ speech was slurred and she had a difficult time maintaining her balance. Davis attempted to flee before being arrested. While being processed into booking, an officer found a small plastic baggy containing marijuana in Davis’ pocket.
