COLUMBIA — The founder and tournament director of the Educator’s Veterans’ Day Golf Tournament presented a $1,000 check to the USO South Carolina on Monday. The funds were raised at their annual event held on Veterans’ Day 2013 at the Country Club of Newberry.

“The original objective of the golf tournament was for fun, food, and fellowship,” stated Dr. Paul Rawl, tournament founder. “The tournament has been making donations to worthy causes for approximately thirteen years.”

“We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with the USO,” said tournament director Dr. David Stout.

“Thanks to great partners like our friends with the educator’s Veteran’s Day golf tournament, we are able to bring programs and services, such as dinner and United through Reading, to deploying troops at Camp McCrady. It also allows us to continue to serve snacks and drinks to those troops traveling through the Columbia Metropolitan Airport,” said Joanie Thresher, director of USO South Carolina.
