Henry and Betty Reeder of Newberry, SC celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 29, 2014 with a ceremony to renew their vows and a reception that followed. The celebration was held at the Richland County Adult Activities Center, 7494 Parklane Road, Columbia, SC. The couple was joined by 200 relatives and friends to celebrate this special occasion.
The couple met through an introduction by Betty’s brother, Robert Clark, and married on March 29, 1964. They have four children: Henry Reeder, Jr. and wife Rochelle of Irmo, SC; Travis Reeder and wife Annette of Newberry, SC; Lavette Ruff and husband James of Irmo, SC; and Yonnie Reeder and fiancé Jeffrey Pitts of Newberry, SC.
They have eight grandchildren: Kendra Ruff, Jaylen Reeder, Casey Reeder, Danielle Reeder, Tyler Ruff, Cameron Caughman, Tarence Henderson, and Benjamin Robinson. They have three great grandchildren: ShaDiamond Henderson, Jada Henderson, and Nerria Henderson.
Henry Reeder retired as a principal in June 1995 after 33 years in the Newberry County School System. Betty Reeder retired as an instructional assistant in May 2006 after 22 years in the Newberry County School System.
