A woman was taken to the hospital after she was injured in a wreck on South Davis Road today.
Witnesses called 911 at 12:06 p.m. after a sedan apparently went off the road and into a deep ravine, landing in water. The vehicle, a make and model undetermined this afternoon, was submerged up to the passenger cabin in water.
Witnesses said the northbound vehicle was skidding on the roadway and the driver appeared to have lost control before careening off the eastbound side of South Davis Road, directly across from New Community Church. The northbound sedan almost struck a southbound dump truck, driver Cleon Goode told the Daily News. Goode said he had to stop the truck suddenly and veer to avoid a collision with the sedan.
Nitasha Philpot, who also was southbound and driving one vehicle behind Goode, pointed to skid marks in the road where the dump truck skidded while trying to avoid the collision. She said the victim’s sedan “slid a long way before going into the ravine.”
The identity of the driver and her condition were unavailable. Witnesses said she appeared to be a young woman. She was taken by EMS to West Georgia Medical Center.
Georgia State Patrol was investigating.
