SUMMERVILLE — The Mid-Carolina Intermediate All-Star team finished runner up in the Little League Intermediate State Tournament. Mid-Carolina won its first game of the tournament, defeating Tega Cay 12-1.

Manual Wadsworth was the winning pitcher, striking out six and allowing just one hit through four innings. Leading hitters were Hunter Clinton (2-4, triple) and Corbin Metts (2-3).

In Game 2 Mid-Carolina came up short against Darlington, 6-3. Leading hitters were Jack Edwards (2-4) and Jackie Stroud (2-4).

Facing an elimination game, Mid-Carolina pounded Summerville 17-2 to stay alive in the tournament.

Coach Ronny Bannister said Drayton Branham and Jacob Shealy combined to pitch a stellar game. Branham and Shealy combined for 10 strikeouts and only gave up one hit.

Leading hitters were Jack Edwards (2-2, double); Jackie Stroud (3-4, double); Corbin Metts (3-3, home run); and Jack Lominick (2-3).

The game three win set up a rematch of Darlington and Mid-Carolina.

Both teams pounded out 13 hits apiece. But Darlington’s players had a better day in the field, playing error-free baseball.

Mid-Carolina, by contrast, had six fielding errors, which proved to be the difference in an 11-14 loss.

Leading hitters for Mid-Carolina in Game 4 were Jackie Stroud (3-4); Hunter Clinton (2-3); Corbin Metts (3-4), Drew Moore (2-4) and Jack Lominick (2-2).
