PROSPERITY — Lutheran Men in Mission reached out to area youth Aug. 11 with its annual youth night. Hosted at Macedonia Lutheran Church in Prosperity, the afternoon and evening included swimming, outdoor games, cornhole and a talent show.

In between the lake outing and the talent show, participants shared fellowship at a hot dog supper.

The men’s group shared its mission: “For every man to have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through an effective men’s ministry in every congregation.”

Youth attended from around the conference which extends from Chapin and Clinton to Irmo and includes Newberry County.

Around 60 people took part in the meal and fellowship. As part of the talent show, the Rev. Randy Derrick, pastor at Macedonia Lutheran, played name that hymn on a harp-like instrument. After a sing-a-long of camp songs and hymns, the evening ended with the singing of the Lutheran Men’s hymn, whose lyrics were written by Newberry College alumni Dan Sandel.

The Heartland Conference Lutheran Men’s Ladies Night will be Nov. 21 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
