NEWBERRY — Alana West hopes to gauge interest in a Newberry County 4-H Archery Club at a meeting planned for 6:30 p.m. July 22 at Willingham’s Cabin, 211 Paw Paw’s Trail in Newberry.

“With all the success of the DNR Archery in the Schools Program in Newberry County there are lots of kids showing interests in archery,” said West, Newberry County’s 4-H Agent.

The club will be open to youth ages 10 to 19 as of Jan. 1, 2015. West said that no bow ownership or archery experience is necessary.

Meeting dates, times, a location, annual dues, equipment needs, membership requirements, volunteer recruitment, parental/guardian requirements, club goals, and more will be discussed at the meeting. Parents are expected to accompany their children to the meeting.

West said Russell Warren has agreed to lead the club. Warren has been trained as a South Carolina 4-H Shooting Sports instructor and is certified as a 4-H volunteer.

Contact West at awillin@clemson.edu or 276-1091 ext. 111 for more information or stop by the Newberry County Clemson Extension Office at 1860 Wilson Road in Newberry.
