NEWBERRY — Newberry County Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended a bank robbery suspect Thursday around 11 a.m. in partnership with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the NCSO the section of Interstate 26 west bound near S.C. Highway 219 was closed so deputies could position themselves on exit ramps with tire deflation devices.
The suspect avoided the devices but ran off into the shoulder of the road where he was apprehended without incident.
Though I-26 west bound was closed for a short time while the suspect was secured and as the crime scene was contained.
Traffic was opened up once all areas were deemed safe and secure.
