Primary election is June 10

NEWBERRY — Get ready to vote, June 10 is the first day of primary voting. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.


There are two county council candidates running for the Democratic nomination for County Council 7. These candidates are Travis Reeder and Tommy Zobel.


Absentee voting is now open, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Absentee voting ends Monday June 9 at 5 p.m.


Hosea Cleveland and Barbara Jo Mullis are running for the Democratic nomination for U.S House of Representatives District 3.


The winner will be listed on the November general ballot as the Democratic candidate for U.S. House of Representatives District 3.


The candidate will then face Republican Jeff Duncan in November. Duncan was the only person who filed in the Republican nomination and is listed on the ballot for the primary.


Mick Mulvaney and Tom Adams will be listed on the November general ballot.


Democrat Walt McLeod will have opposition from Republican Richard Martin in the House for the House District 40 seat in the general election on November 4.


The following consists of people who filed with the Democratic party to run. They will appear on the November ballot:


• Walt McLeod, State House of Representatives District 40


• Kelly Nobles, Probate Judge


• Henry Livingston, County Council District 3


• Bill Waldrop, County Council District 6


• Richard Martin, State House of Representatives District 40


Martin is the only Republican who has filed to run for election.


Commissioner of Agriculture candidates include Joe Farmer and Hugh E. Weathers, both of the Republican party.


Candidates running for Adjutant General consists of James Breazeale and Bob Livingston, both of the Republican party.


State Treasurer candidates include Brian Adams and Curtis Loftis who are both a part of the Republican party.


State Lieutenant Governor candidates includes Mike Campbell, Pat McKinney, Henry McMaster and Ray Moore. All in which are a part of the Republican party.


The following candidates are running for 2014 County School Board District Partisan:


• Republican Harvey Eisner, District 1


• Republican Holly Heniford, District 1


• Republican Karen McIlrath, District 2


• Republican Sherrie Todd, District 2


• Republican Kieth VanWinkle, District 3
