NEWBERRY — Dust off those voter registration cards, Newberry County. Primary elections are June 10. Polls for primary voting will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Absentee voting is now open, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The end date for absentee voting is June 9 at 5 p.m.
Newberry County has 21,904 registered voters, but only 27.6 percent voted during the 2012 primary.
Hosea Cleveland and Barbara Jo Mullis will run for the Democratic nomination for U.S House of Representatives District 3. The winner will be listed on the November general ballot as the Democratic candidate for that seat.
He or she will then face Republican Jeff Duncan in November. Duncan was the only candidate who filed in the Republican nomination. Duncan is listed on the ballot for the primary.
Rep. Mick Mulvaney and Tom Adams will be listed on the November general ballot.
Democrat Walt McLeod will have opposition from Republican Richard Marin for the House District 40 seat in the Nov. 4 general election.
