NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a March 8 fatality at the Louis Rich plant just outside the Newberry city limits.
Newberry County Coroner Craig Newton said that Todd Hendrix,46, from Greenwood was accidently killed at approximately 4:15 a.m. on March 8. According to Newton, Mr. Hendrix was last seen about 30 minutes prior to his body being discovered.
Coroner Newton advised that an autopsy revealed the cause of death as asphyxia due to mechanical entrapment. Newton said the death was ruled an accident and that foul play was not suspected.
In accordance with protocol, the Newberry Coroner’s Office reported the incident to OSHA.
At this time, the incident remains under the investigation of the Newberry County Coroner’s Office and OSHA.
The Newberry Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
