LITTLE MOUNTAIN — Walkers on the supported trail of Rocky Branch Park soon will have a new feature to enjoy.

At a specially called Feb. 28 meeting Little Mountain Town Council approved adding two 10 foot x 12 foot wooden observation decks along the Rocky Branch Trail. The addition passed by unanimous vote.

The decks will be partially funded by one-cent sales tax money and by a Parks, Recreation and Tourism grant.

The trail was popularized by a past visit from Rudy Mancke where he described local fauna and flora.

Little Mountain Mayor Jana Jayroe said the decks will overlook the part of the trail Mancke described.

That area of trail includes .4 of a mile with soil stabilizer.

Another Rocky Branch Park Trail for active hikers involves going down the side of the mountain and that second trail does not have soil stabilizer.

Jayroe said there is no charge to visit the public park, which includes handicapped accessible restrooms and a picnic area.

Little Mountain Town Council next meets at 6:30 p.m. March 11 at Little Mountain Town Hall.
