NEWBERRY — The City of Newberry will host its second movie in the Family Movie Night winter series this Friday, Feb. 21 beginning at 7 p.m. Just as the first movie in January, the showing will take place at the Newberry Opera House.

This month’s movie is Free Birds, an animated comedy about turkeys working together to get themselves off of the Thanksgiving menu by traveling back to the very first Thanksgiving.

The movie is free to the community, and no tickets will be distributed in advance. Because of this Scott Sawyer, with the City of Newberry encourages everyone to arrive early to ensure a good seat, as seating capacity is limited.

There will be complimentary soft drinks and popcorn served during intermission. Refreshments were donated by Newberry First Baptist Church and Hardees of Newberry.

Next month’s movie will be the last in the Winter Series of Family Movie Nights, Sawyer said. The date of that will be March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Newberry Opera House.

For more information on this week’s family movie night or a future family movie night, contact the Newberry Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department at 321-1015.

Elyssa Parnell can be contacted at 803-276-0625, ext. 108.
