NEWBERRY — Newberry’s first half marathon is racing to the start day March 22.
The inaugural half marathon starts and finishes at Newberry High School with the start time at 8 a.m. The course will stay open for three and a half hours.
This half marathon benefits the Boys Farm which helps young boys develop into responsible young men.
The course was measured and marked by the USATF team after many weather delays but runners should know they will be running the precise half marathon distance of 13.1 miles.
Also due to the busyness of some of the streets, traffic control will be provided by the Newberry Police and the sheriff’s department. Parking is available at Newberry High.
Strictly Running provides the chip timing and this race is a part of the Tour de Columbia and Palmetto Grand Prix race series. There will also be six aid stations along the route for those who need it.
Register at www.active.com or www.strictlyrunning.com. Information can also be found at wwww.newberryhalf.com or on the Facebook page at Newberry Half.
Fees for the race are $65 through January, $70 through February and $75 through March 20. March 20 is the last day to register.
