PROSPERITY — Prepare yourself for the most wonderful time of the year by getting in the holiday spirit with Prosperity’s Christmas parade at 3 p.m. Sunday. This year’s theme is “The Sights and Sounds of Christmas.”
Town Administrator Karen Livingston said Main Street as well as other streets feeding to Main will be blocked at 2 p.m. Sunday. They’re asking that all floats, cars, tractors and trailers be in their assigned spot in the lineup before the roads are blocked.
The grand marshal is Chief Mark Bowers of the Prosperity Fire Department, who is retiring as of Dec. 31. Livingston said for the convenience of the parade participants, a shuttle service is being provided by Stokes-Trainor. The shuttle will stop and pick up parade participants at the Prosperity ball field located on North Main Street and Town Hall at 250 School Drive and use Main Street to ensure a safe delivery to their place in the lineup.
Livingston said handicap parking is available at Park Sterling Bank and the post office. Porta Pottys are being provided by Advanced Disposal and are located in the square and in the staging area of the lineup.
The Mid-Carolina High School band was almost unable to participate in the parade this year due to a scheduling conflict, Livingston said, but fortunately their music will once again parade down Main Street.
“It wouldn’t be the same without them in the parade,” Livingston said. “There’s just something about those red coats.
“The town of Prosperity appreciates all the parade entries and looks forward to a wonderful day of the sights and sounds of Christmas,” Livingston added.
