NEWBERRY COUNTY — Fourteen support staff employees were honored for this school year at the district’s annual reception on Nov. 7 at Newberry Middle School.

Each school had a support staff employee recognized along with the district’s overall support staff employee of the year.

Dotty Wilson, a media assistant at Mid-Carolina Middle School, was selected as the district’s support staff employee of the year.

“One of the administrators told me Mrs. Westwood had won an award and that I would present the award,” Wilson said after learning she was the recipient of the award. “I love learning with the students. My greatest reward is building relationships. It takes team work for education and I’m proud to promote it and be a part of it at Mid-Carolina Middle.”

Principal Deedee Westwood said Wilson is the definition of team player who is always willing to be wherever she needs to be.

The runner-up was Essie May Savoy who works in child nutrition at Little Mountain Elementary School and has worked in child nutrition for seven years. Pomaria-Garmany’s Robbie Harris and Whitmire Community’s Lora Franklin were also honored.
