NEWBERRY — Working with its mission to promote a positive business environment, the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce strives to enhance the quality of life in Newberry County for the community as well as its members.
Located at 1209 Caldwell St., the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce has a variety of information for the community. Whether you need to find emergency services, lodging, entertainment, worship, school systems, or businesses, the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce will give you the proper information you need to easily navigate through Newberry County.
The community can also get involved by becoming a member of the chamber.
“People all over the world come to Newberry whether it’s just for a visit or for an extended period of time, and by being a member and being a part of the various committees, it helps bring a positive outlook about Newberry,” said Administrator Michelle Long.
The chamber also holds special events, such as its partnership with the Newberry Jaycees in its first Scarecrow Convention, which involved businesses, schools, churches, individuals and families. Another event the Chamber holds is the annual Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Newberry. This year’s tournament — the 21st annual — was held Oct. 21 and serves as one of the Chamber’s main fundraisers.
Other events that occur in Newberry are the Christmas Tour of Homes throughout Newberry, and the recent Oktoberfest held in downtown Newberry. Long said these events get people to come to Newberry and see what it has to offer.
“We work really hard to make sure laws passed are good for the businesses. We help to promote the businesses of Newberry and help make them better in order to succeed,” said Director, Ted Smith.
Smith said on March 10, the Chamber received a certificate marking its 30th year in Newberry County.
