NEWBERRY — A public meeting concerning the proposed College Street bridge replacement will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in Newberry City Hall, 1330 College St.
The meeting is a drop-in format with project displays available for viewing. Informal written and verbal comments will be collected during the meeting. A brief presentation regarding the proposed project will be given at 6 p.m.
Formal verbal comments will not be taken after the presentation. In the future, if an official public hearing is held, a formal presentation will be given during the meeting and citizens will have the opportunity to make formal verbal comments immediately following the presentation.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and solicit feedback from area residents concerning the proposed College Street bridge replacement. The bridge is proposed to be replaced in the existing location.
During construction, a temporary detour is anticipated. Additional right of way is anticipated. Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area. Engineering, Right-of-Way and Environmental representatives from the South Carolina Department of Transportation will be available to answer questions.
