NEWBERRY — The South Carolina Junior Golf Association has put together a program specifically designed for kids ages 6-12. The first session is at 4 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Country Club of Newberry.

This program is known as the Team Series and is designed to include not only the child but the parent as well. The kids walk the grounds of the country club with the chapter director and their parents. The whole idea of the program is to get kids to enjoy playing the game with good etiquette and better understanding of the overall integrity of the game.

The chapter director who directs the program has parents working with their kids so they can also be encouraged to grow their knowledge so they can guide their own son or daughter.

At the first session Sept. 8, Shaw James and Brian Summers are in charge of the chapter at the Country Club of Newberry. James is a member of the Newberry College golf team and Summers is the head pro.
