Staff Report

The Newberry Police Department reported the following incidents:

— Kirk Gallman, 58, of 2509 Norris St. in Newberry, was charged with drunkenness in a public place and open container on June 30. According to the report, an officer saw Gallman sitting in his vehicle slumped over and being still. The officer saw that he was asleep and a Mad Dog 20/20 liquor bottle with a broken seal was in the seat next to him. The report states Gallman’s breath smelled of alcohol and his eyes were red and watery.

— Carl Peraino Jr., 17, of 2214 Main St. in Newberry, was cited for simple possession of marijuana on July 1. An officer stopped Peraino for loud and unseemly noise coming from his vehicle. The officer detected a strong body spray odor in the vehicle and Peraino’s hands and voice were shaking. Peraino told the officer he had a small amount of marijuana and some cigarettes in his vehicle.

— Paul Boyd, 36, of 905 Mamie St. in Newberry, was charged with profane language on July 5 after officers responded to his home numerous times the prior night trying to calm him down. He was verbally and physically acting out against other family members staying at his home. The report stated the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance earlier that night involving Boyd and his girlfriend at 2496 Beaverdam Road.

— Frederick Glass, 58, of 2208 Benedict St. in Newberry, was cited for shoplifting on July 5. Officers responded to Walmart in Newberry in reference to shoplifting. Glass told officers he attempted to steal several items from the store. Walmart said Glass had stolen from them in the past and they wanted him placed on trespass notice. Items stolen included pork feet, ribs and other food products. He is on trespass notice for Walmart.
