NEWBERRY — Walter Cousins Road, the roadway that leads into Lynches Woods (between Cromley Ford and the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office), is being repaved today.
“This construction effort is a repair project done by the County Transportation Commission. It is a continuation of the renovation project for the Sheriff’s Office to enhance the park and allow better access. It’s a much needed improvement and definitely something of which to be extremely proud,” said Sheriff Lee Foster.
However, due to the nature of this project and in an effort to complete it in a cost effective manner, this roadway will be closed to through traffic until further notice.
Sheriff’s Office traffic will continue to enter and exit from the current public entrance gate on Wilson Road which is adjacent to Wilson Tractor fence and the Sheriff’s Office fence. The Horse entrance, or access road between the Sheriff’s Office and Wilson Tractor, will be used as the entrance to Lynches Woods. Care should be taken on this short stretch of road to Lynches Woods because it is very narrow.
