Three murder suspects from Tennessee in woods at US 176/SC 34 Keitts Cross Roads and are considered armed and dangerous. Subjects are three white males dressed in dark pants one with no shirt, one with an orange shirt and the other with a white tee shirt. A white female is also with them dressed in dark pants and a white tee shirt. Subjects are wanted from Tennessee for murder. A SCHP trooper came across them at the upper rest area of I-26 and a pursuit ensued East bound I-26 into the City of Newberry and back onto Highway 34. A deputy sheriff spiked the tires and the suspects bailed out of the car at SC 34 and US 176. Residents are asked to shelter in place. Bloodhounds, helicopters and SWAT will be in the area.


Newberry County Schools will operate on a normal schedule today; however, all Mid Carolina area schools will operate in alert mode today due to the ongoing search for the murder suspects from Tennessee.


While the search for the three murder suspects from Tennessee continues, Newberry County schools will continue to operate today with those schools in the Mid Carolina attendance area operating in alert mode.


Alert mode means that the instruction and learning process will continue while outside activities are avoided. Faculty and staff will be briefed on the description of the suspects and will immediately report any suspicious activity to authorities. Extra precaution is taken to ensure that all entrances are secured at all times.


Additional officers will be on and/or patrolling campuses throughout the day.
