NEWBERRY — The City of Newberry’s 15th edition of Oktoberfest will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 1 in Downtown Newberry. Admission is free.

An array of fine arts and crafts vendors will be spread throughout the festival area. Authentic German food, barbecue, gourmet and American fare will be available in the food court and a variety of domestic and German beverages will be available in the biergarten.

Live music will be featured on the Rocktoberfest stage all day including polka and German traditional tunes, rock and roll, and variety hits. At 12:30 p.m. the stage will host the Best German Costume contest for anyone attending the festival in traditional Bavarian attire.

Families will want to stop by Kindertown for free kid’s inflatable bounce houses, carousel, and video game truck, and free balloon animals as well as vendors specializing in face painting, children’s toys, books, and more.

Festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to tour the Newberry Opera House, see free puppet shows at the Ritz Theater, and view the Newberry Car Buff’s classic car display, now by the setting of the newly renovated Coca Cola Mural in downtown. In addition, the local shops and restaurants in downtown Newberry will be open for business.
